At some point along the way, “CLE” (Continuing Legal Education) has morphed into “CPD” (Continuing Professional Development) for reasons which aren’t entirely clear to me. In any event, here are a couple of upcoming events which qualify as either/both and will be of particular interest to Canadian entertainment lawyers:

  • on Thursday, February 6, 2014, as part of the Ontario Bar Association’s annual Institute super-CPD conference taking place in Toronto, the Entertainment, Media & Communications Law Section will be hosting a half-day conference, chaired by Brian Wynn – details are available here (disclosure: I am currently Chair of the executive committee of the EM&C Section)
  • ALIS (the Artists’ Legal Information Society) is hosting a conference in Halifax in March: On the Edge of Now – Emerging Trends in Entertainment, Digital and IP Law (to my great pleasure, I will be speaking at the conference on Saturday)
