During these unprecedented times, the landscape of television and film production in North America (not to mention the rest of the world) is changing at a rapid pace as the industry tries to quickly adapt to the new normal.
While the Canadian industry eagerly looks to reopen, albeit slowly and cautiously, some provinces like British Columbia and Manitoba are poised to restart production filming as early as June/July 2020. Ontario is in its early stages of developing new provincial health and safety protocols relating to motion picture and television production with a hopeful eye on resuming operations over the next few months.
Canada is a federal system, which means that the rules that will impact production will be issued by the local provincial governments and local city or municipal authorities. Since the situation is changing and evolving on an almost daily basis, we would recommend reviewing the rules applicable to the jurisdiction you will be producing in.
