Subscribers to the looseleaf Canadian Film & Television Business & Legal Practice (authored by Tony Duarte and published by Carswell) will likely have received by now Release No. 9 (December 2012).  Keen-eyed readers of that Release will note that the publication now features a new Contributing Editor – which is to say, me.  I’ve long held Tony’s book in high esteem, and so was extremely flattered and excited to be asked by him to contribute to its updating for 2012 and into the future.

Release No. 9 includes a significant amount of new material, including a new chapter on the Canadian broadcast television “Terms of Trade” agreement, along with new features such as electronic agreement precedents, and full reproductions of articles and other documents of particular interest to practitioners such as the Documentary Organization of Canada’s Fair Dealing Guidelines, Andrea Slane’s article “Guarding a Cultural Icon: Concurrent Intellectual Property Regimes and the Perpetual Protection of Anne of Green Gables in Canada” and Danny Webber’s “Media Taxonomy – Back to the Basics”.

It was a pleasure working with Tony and the editorial team at Carswell, and we look forward to future updates.
